PINPOINT PHARMACY CLIENT SCOOPS TWO MAJOR AWARDS

After just two years in business Mount Elgon Pharmacy in Wimbledon Chase SW20 has won not one but two prestigious awards within weeks of each other.

At the first event, staged at Grosvenor House in London’s Park Lane in late September, Mount Elgon’s owner Raj Patel won Pharmacy Newcomer of the Year in the 2007 Pharmacy Business Awards. More than one thousand guests, including government officials and top industry stakeholders, gathered to pay tribute to some of the country’s top community pharmacists and recognise their contribution to delivering accessible, high quality healthcare.

Then, just eight weeks later, Mount Elgon was declared overall winner in the UniChem Pharmacy Awards for its exceptional standards in all three of the categories judged:

• Promotion of healthcare services within the community
• Working in partnership as part of a community healthcare team
• Enhancing the retail experience

As well as a cash prize, Raj Patel was presented with two VIP tickets to attend the UniChem Convention which takes place in Oman in September 2008. A delighted Raj took the opportunity to propose marriage to his long-term partner Shilpa who is, he freely admits, one of the driving forces of the business. “We are currently considering actually tying the knot in Oman next year – there will be a week-long party and what better way to celebrate?” says Raj.

Mount Elgon Pharmacy has been a client of Pinpoint Pharmacy Accounting since April 2006, a few months after starting in business. In addition to bookkeeping, Pinpoint also handles all monthly returns for the business and payroll for its four employees. According to Raj Patel, the best thing about the service is the peace of mind it brings. “Pinpoint offers us a complete package, including chasing up outstanding invoices, and there is always someone there to talk to – overall it’s a very efficient and friendly service,” he comments.

So with a thriving business and the administration taken care of, what does the future hold for Raj and Shilpa and their two young daughters? “We plan to shift the focus more on to the family and achieve a better work/life balance. Oh, and we’re having Christmas in Barbados!” says Raj.
