My New Law Firm Seminar
Over 1000 new law firms were established during 2010.
If you are thinking about setting up your own firm or have decided to take the plunge or you have already taken the plunge and need help to move forward with your new firm, you should attend this seminar.
Many start-up firms are sole principal or 2 partner firms. At a time when clients and fees are the primary concern, there is much to consider and deal with to ensure that you have a viable business enterprise that will survive and prosper in the most challenging times that the legal profession has ever experienced. There are no guarantees for success but acquiring relevant knowledge together with planning and preparation will significantly enhance your chances of success. This seminar will provide you with the most important information and tools that you will need in order to establish your new firm.
Informal and interactive in style this 5 CPD hour event will provide access to experts in their fields in relation to law firm start ups. This will not be a 5 hour lecture but a series of bite sized sessions offering practical advice and help based on the first hand experiences of the speakers. The outlines for these sessions are as follows:
• Strategy and business planning – various stakeholders including your bank & indemnity insurer as well as the SRA, will require you to produce a meaningful business plan for your new firm. This session will guide you towards producing your own personalised plan
• Indemnity Insurance – a broker, specialist in providing insurance for start up firms, will provide you with guidance on how to approach the insurance market and what the underwriters will be looking for when considering your application
• Financial management and IT solutions – it is unlikely that you have been trained as an accountant but you will be responsible for the financial management of your firm and compliance the Accounts Rules. This session will point you in the right direction and offer well proven advice and solutions from the experts.
• Compliance – this year, a major overhaul of the regulatory framework takes place including the introduction of a new and very different Code of Conduct. This session will consider the implications for the small start up firm and the practical considerations that must be addressed as the consequences of non compliance are very serious!
• “What it was like for me!” – this session is lead by a sole principal who set up his own firm two years ago and will cover the practicalities of setting up a new firm including issues such as: finding and equipping the right premises, recruiting staff and adopting the most suitable technology.
These seminars have already been run successfully and the next ones will be on Monday 12th September in Manchester and on 19th September in central London. The fee will be £250+VAT and will include lunch. Expect a busy but very informative day! For more details contact us by email: damon@lawrisk.co.uk or call: 01788 833768.
