With the Tour de France 2014 starting in a few days' time, supporting a cycling charity fundraiser seemed fitting.
From now until 18th July, Quill client, Andrews Ritson Solicitors, are getting on their bikes to cycle a muscle-burning 969 miles, the mileage traditionally covered on the infamous Lands End to John O'Groats route.
But there's a twist in the tale. Because they're a small close-knit team of 8 staff unable to take time out of the office simultaneously, they're sharing the task between them (and other willing volunteers) on exercise bikes from their Bridgnorth premises.
The challenge is being undertaken in aid of their elected charity, Palmer Children's Trust, founded by one of the firm's consultant solicitors after the tragic loss of their young daughter, Emilia, to a rare lung disease last year. The charity's aim is to help children suffering from life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Our support is twofold. As well as pledging some sponsorship money, Andrews Ritson's Quill Account Manager, Matthew Gilder, is popping in tomorrow to cycle a few miles on their behalf.
Quill's Matthew Gilder comments: "I was dreading it, having shamefully done nothing to practice, until I saw some photos on the Andrews Ritson Twitter feed of various similarly unprepared individuals having a go. I’m going to fit in perfectly then."
Jonathan Ritson, Co-Director of Andrews Ritson says: “We'd like to thank Quill Pinpoint for their kind sponsorship and the offer of Matthew Gilder’s legs to help us achieve the miles! It is quite a challenge we have set but we are enjoying it and making good progress. The support and money we are raising for the Palmer Children’s Trust makes it all worthwhile.”
Why don't you sponsor too? Submit your donations, big or small, via the secure sponsorship web page or simply text CYCL15 £5 to 70070. Even better, why not get actively involved by heading into their office and cycling a few miles, like Matthew?
