Case study: Gunnercooke
12/11/14Committed to the cloud
Gunnercooke, one of the UK’s fastest-growing new model law firms, operates from a different business model to most practices. Its ever-expanding team of senior lawyers, recruited on the basis of a minimum 10,000 hours’ practicing experience, and transparent fixed fee pricing approach, are attracting clients nationwide to its authoritative, cost-effective legal services. Gunnercooke now boasts over 1,000 clients across the UK.
The challenge:
Sarah Goulbourne, Co-Founder of Gunnercooke, explains:
“Gunnercooke was established in 2010 and already, just 4 years later, our client base has far exceeded the 1,000-mark. At present, we have 60 partners across the country, with two office hubs in London and Manchester. For us to deliver the best service to our clients, it was vital that our partners were set up to be able to work from wherever the client needed them – be it our own offices, their offices or elsewhere. For our IT suppliers, this presents an interesting challenge.
“Cloud working connects our partners, IT applications, company data and matter files while on the go. It was essential for our continued growth. That’s the reason we turned to Quill.”
The solution:
With other cloud-stored systems in situ for the Microsoft Office suite and document management, Gunnercooke chose Quill as its practice management and legal accounts software partner.
Sarah continues:
“We selected Quill’s Interactive system not only because of its functional qualities and easy usage, but also for its delivery platform – hosted. As Interactive users, our partners have the independence to log in anywhere, anytime whether at the office or on the move.
“Cloud solutions remove all the old barriers which restrict usage to specific times and locations. But, fundamentally for us, Quill’s safety measures comply fully with the global ISO 27001 standard. So while we’ve introduced much-needed flexibility, we haven’t compromised security.”
The future:
With cost one of Gunnercooke’s deciding factors, Interactive’s simplistic monthly, scalable pricing plan influenced their selection of Quill.
Sarah concludes:
“Quill, charges us a set fee based upon our user numbers and activity levels, which is an extremely commercial solution to offer a growing business. For our fee, Quill also maintains its servers and provides on-demand technical support.
“We couldn’t run our business any other way. We’re completely committed to the cloud concept.”
