2023

Quill Pinpoint Ltd is acquired by Dye & Durham Corporation. Dye & Durham is a leading provider of software and technology solutions for legal firms across the United Kingdom and around the world. This exciting chapter of growth enables Quill to further support the evolving needs of law professionals across the UK. Quill remains a two-star Best Companies business and rises further still in the rankings to #16 ‘Best Mid-Sized Company To Work For in the UK’, #25 ‘Best Company to Work For in the North West’ and #11 ‘Best Technology Company to Work For in the UK’.

2022

Tom Wormald is appointed as Managing Director.

Quill is proud to be the first approved Law Society Affiliate Partner to offer outsourced legal cashiering, as well as being able to provide legal accounts, case, document and practice management software.

Our legal accounts system wins ‘ILFM Law Firm Software Users Silver Award 2022‘. Quill retains its prestigious two-star Best Companies status and moved up in rankings: ‘The UK’s 100 Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work For’ (17th place), ‘The North West’s 100 Best Companies to Work For’ (23rd place) and ‘Technology’s 50 Best Companies to Work For’ (11th place).

2021

Quill’s inaugural time being named in the Best Companies lists for ‘The UK’s 100 Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work For’ (52nd place), ‘The North West’s 100 Best Companies to Work For’ (56th place) and ‘Technology’s 50 Best Companies to Work For’ (21st place).

The business also launches its newest outsourcing service – digital mailroom Quill Post.

2020

Best Companies recognises Quill as a 2-star, ‘Outstanding Company to Work For’ based on our approach to supporting employees throughout lockdown and their mental health.

2019

Quill acquires Professional Technology UK Ltd.

2018

We launch our outsourced transcription and typing service, endorsed by the Manchester Law Society, LawNet and Lawshare.

2016

Quill acquires Solicitors Case Management Systems Ltd and integrates its legal forms functionality within Quill’s software. Best Companies recognises us for our employee engagement initiatives and offering a caring workplace.

2010

Our latest legal accounting and case management software wins the Institute of Legal Finance & Management Solicitors’ (ILFM) Software Users Award first in 2010 and again in 2012.

2004

We extend our outsourced service offerings with our outsourced payroll bureau.

2000

We launch the first version of our legal accounts and practice management software.

1998

Knowing how difficult it is for law firms to find good legal cashiers and the lengthy turnaround time for processing accounts, we set up an outsourced cashiering bureau.

1985

We change our name to Quill Computer Systems and started developing our flagship legal accounts and practice management software.

1980

Appreciating how the legal profession is required to perform lots of repetitive paperwork tasks, we begin working closely with law firms to help them overcome this with Microsoft’s innovative word processing technology.

1978

First established as Gerrard Calculator Systems, we begin supplying programmable calculators from our headquarters in Manchester.
