Soaring for a Cause: Quill’s Charity Fundraising for Cash for Kids

14/08/23

In a world where every small act of kindness can create a ripple effect of positive change, our charity committee has been leaving no stone unturned in its mission to make a difference. Aptly nicknamed “3Fall,” Quill’s remarkable team has embarked on an exhilarating journey of fundraising and volunteering, proving that compassion knows no bounds.

As they gear up for an 11km tandem skydive, followed by an 80ft abseil and a heartwarming winter help-the-homeless initiative, their mission is to raise over £6,000 to support our chosen charity of the year, Cash for Kids.

About Cash for Kids

Cash for Kids is a remarkable charity on a mission to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and young people across our community. With a passionate commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind, Cash for Kids focuses on providing vital support, resources, and opportunities to those who need it most. Through a wide range of initiatives, from funding medical treatments and education to organizing life-enriching experiences, Cash for Kids is dedicated to creating a brighter future for the next generation.

Taking the leap – literally!

The adrenaline rush of jumping out of a plane isn’t just for thrill-seekers; it’s also a powerful way to raise funds for a worthy cause. On September 7th, members of Quill will be soaring through the skies in an 11km tandem skydive. This daring feat is not just about conquering personal fears; it’s about flying high to make a tangible impact on the lives of those in need. The excitement is palpable as the team prepares to take the leap, knowing that every second of freefall will translate into much-needed support for Cash for Kids.

Scaling new heights for charity

If skydiving isn’t enough of a daring adventure, the 3Fall team is embracing another challenge on September 9th: an 80ft abseil. This descent down a towering structure is a metaphorical representation of their commitment to going above and beyond. Just as they descend from the heights, they’re lifting up the spirits of children in need through Cash for Kids.

Warmth in the Winter: Help-the-homeless initiative

As the calendar pages turn towards winter, the Quill team is gearing up for a heartwarming initiative to help the homeless during the chilly months. In the spirit of giving, we’ll be providing essentials like warm clothing, blankets, and hot meals to those who need it most. This act of compassion serves as a reminder that while fundraising can make a significant impact, hands-on volunteering can touch hearts in ways that money can’t measure.

Beyond the dare: creative fundraising

The team’s commitment to Cash for Kids goes beyond just adrenaline-pumping challenges. From hosting a laptop sale and an ongoing Vinted auction to serving up Shrove Tuesday pancakes and a delightful Coronation afternoon tea, the Quill charity committee have introduced new fundraising initiatives this year to engage the office and inspire donations.  You can see the money mounting up on our three area donation pages:

Getting involved

Quill employees are also supporting charities this year with our salary sacrifice scheme whereby employees automatically pledge £1 monthly, equating to over £100 monthly. The organisations receiving this money are chosen by our staff, and this year has seen lots of local and national charities receive a much-needed cash boost. To name a few, there’s Ronald McDonald House, The Christie Charity, Ollie’s Army, 42nd Street, Claire House Children’s Hospice, Centrepoint and Queenscourt Hospice with many more charities selected for the months ahead.

Last but not least, we’ve given everyone at Quill a paid-for ‘community day’ annually. In 2022, we gave back an impressive 264 hours and our 2023 company goal is to give back 500 hours to the community. It’s heartening to see individuals spending time picking litter, volunteering at animal shelters, taking on fundraising fitness challenges and helping out at dog rescue centres, with more plans afoot.
