Huge congratulations to our client, Joanne Major, Principal at Ponteland-based Major Family Law, for winning "Most Innovative Lawyer" in the third Jordan's Publishing Family Law Awards 2013.
Nominations were submitted for 16 different awards, with four nominees shortlisted in each category. In a national setting, only two North East legal practices were represented in the shortlists. On the night, Joanne received her award in the company of 400 family lawyers from across England and Wales.
The award showcased "the individual who the family law community recognise as having applied the most innovative solutions to promote and enhance their practice and led the way for other practitioners to follow".
Joanne’s originality in promoting Major Family Law, particularly the use of Twitter and her popular #familylawtweetup events, has raised the firm’s profile to the standard of prominent competitors, gaining her the public vote and putting the north firmly back on the legal map.
Joanne commented: “It's fitting that this was one of three awards on the night that was voted for by the online community. This award is an endorsement by peers that the message is getting across and the strategy working.
I attribute my success in this awards category to my dynamic use of social media tools to engage with existing and prospective clients. I’ve proven that creative marketing can be performed with no budget whatsoever to the same effect as firms who invest thousands of pounds on expensive marketing campaigns, thus levelling the playing field by using creative methodologies.
The award success is a firm statement of the importance of investing in your team. This was a team, rather than individual, success.
Here in the North East, we're fiercely proud of our region and what is has to offer. This achievement by Major Family Law in a respected professional national arena adds to that pride and shows the legal community that we're serious market players.
Running my business is made easier with the back-up of Quill Pinpoint’s cashiering service and hosted software. By giving Quill the responsibility of managing our legal accounts and maintaining our IT infrastructure, I’m able to dedicate more time to business growth activities.”
