Still have questions on how we can support your law firm? We’re here to help.
The legal industry historically has been resistant to change and new technology, but the pandemic has ushered in a new appreciation and necessity for technology. Investment is vital to remain competitive. After all, solicitors work not just in the office, but also from the courtroom, on the go and now even more frequently from home.
To keep up with the needs of today’s lawyers, law firms must equip their fee earners and admin staff with the best hardware and software options available. While away from the office, it’s vital to access cases, matter and correspondence from anywhere in a reliable and secure platform.
Ultimately, you need legal tech to improve productivity, efficacy, accuracy in compliance and provide added value to clients – or risk being behind or unable to take on more workload.
Read Guide: Best Legal Tech Tools for Law FirmsAsk yourself this: what is the cost of your time when you’re not working for a client?
Our software and outsourced legal services improve productivity, lower overheads, increase compliance, optimise time management and allow you to manage your practice smarter. It’s risk management through stronger information management.
Learn more about our softwareQuill focuses on providing legal practice management software to UK-based law firms that fit into the small to medium-sized business category. We advocate and support anyone from sole practitioners up to medium-sized firms with up to 200 users.
All of our clients tend to have a similar pain point: “As a sole trader, the buck stops with me. My main responsibility is, of course, to be a fee earner. While acting as a solicitor does occupy most of my attention, I’m also accountable for business development, marketing, legal cashiering and compliance, which are areas where I lack expertise.”
With so many of our clients wearing many hats – but not very well – this can take their focus away from revenue/client-facing work and slow business growth.
That’s why they turn to Quill. We ensure your firm is complying with all the latest legal accounting rules – which keeps the doors of your practice open, after all!
Check out our client testimonialsAbsolutely! Think of it this way – if you’re spending all your energy on manual processes, you’re not focusing on the fee-earning work that keeps your firm in business. So why waste your precious time?
Quill’s legal practice management technology improves efficiency and productivity, lowers overhead costs and helps you stay on top of vital client work. You’ll manage practice smarter and compete effectively with the larger firms

Yes, Quill integrates with HMRC’s MTD service. Our MTD for VAT module is available as part of your standard licence. On top of existing functionality where you keep detailed digital records of all sales and purchases for VAT purposes, you can prepare and submit VAT returns straight to HMRC, and view current and past VAT returns from one handy software screen.
Functionality in Quill assists GDPR compliance by protecting your data. There’s information on our software’s data security measures in our security policy.
Quill contains an optional module for AML compliance, which costs £5 for AML checking or £7 for AML with credit screening, on a per transaction basis. You can conduct automatic electronic checks and get ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ results instantly.
With data checked across many sources, our AML system will flag whether your customers are or could be linked to money laundering, bribery and corruption, terrorist financing or another form of financial crime. It’s available on a pay-as-you-go basis with no annual subscription charges, minimum usage or contract period.

Quill Interactive legal software
Cloud-based
Requiring only a modern browser e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari, Quill Interactive Cloud is easily accessible from your PC, laptop, Mac, iPad or Android tablet. Just ensure your device is updated frequently for the latest security updates.
Desktop (Office Integration)
For the best Document Management experience, we recommend using our document management system, which fully integrates with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Windows Explorer.
We support Office 2019 (or 365 equivalents) and will continue to support older Office versions: 2016 and 2013 SP1 to the end of their respective lifecycles. Office for Mac is not supported due to its lack of “VSTO” support.
Legal Accounts
Interactive Legal Accounts is a RemoteApp and simply requires a modern Remote Desktop Client (at least v8.1) which is readily and freely available on the latest versions of Windows & Mac operating systems.
Mobile
We welcome Interactive Cloud users to try our mobile apps. You will need a modern smartphone with the latest iOS or Android. Simply search for “Quill Interactive” on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Unsupported browsers and OS
To focus on delivering the best possible user experience and the highest level of security, we support only the most modern and secure software products. So, when a browser or OS is no longer actively developed by its vendor, we also cease support for it and, in some cases, we block the unsupported platform for your protection and to avoid confusion.
Key dates:
● Quill ceased support for Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 2008, and Internet Explorer on 14th January 2020
● Quill ceased support for Office 2010 when Microsoft ceased support on October 13, 2020.
All of our staff are comfortable and productive working from either home or our office sites and it’s been ‘business as usual’ for us since April 2020. Our account, technical support, cashiering, payroll and typing teams are readily available by email, phone or video conference to help with your enquiries and are fully equipped with the technology they need to ensure they can continue to work securely and effectively wherever they are.
Read our business continuity policyOf course, yes. We are not like other legal software vendors that keep your data as ransom.
You can request a backup of your data and documents at any time. You can download your documents in their original formats (e.g. docx, pdf) and all reports will be available as spreadsheet files (csv).
Yes, we routinely import data from a wide variety of existing systems. Generally speaking, if you can export your data to spreadsheet/CSV files then it can be imported into Quill easily. We also have some automated utilities for importing data from common systems.
Learn more about our data migration processNope! We want to delight our customers and make it easy for you to scale your business so we do not lock you into lengthy contracts and you don’t have to pay for additional storage with our system. In fact, we encourage you to store as much data in Quill so you treat the system as your single source of truth.
All of our pricing is upfront and much of it is on a pay-as-you-need business so you can keep a close eye on your costs.
No, once you have moved over to Quill, the hassle and additional cost of running a local server is gone, but your security remains watertight.
Quill is a 100% cloud-based legal software solution so you will need to be connected to the internet to access your data. However, there are multiple ways to access the internet, so even if your office connection is down, you can use your mobile phone’s hotspot or work from another location for a while.
Quill targets an overall Service Level Objective uptime of 99.9% by employing a robust set of business continuity and backup strategies.
We’d be sad to see you go! But it’s not a problem, just let us know 3 months in advance (in line with the minimum terms of your agreement) and request a backup of your data. Additionally, once the migration has taken place to your new supplier, we will remove your data from our stores in line with our data retention policies.
